Run for the Trust
run for the trust

Runners of all abilities help to generate thousands of pounds for Sebastian’s Action Trust.

Each year the Trust offers support to more and more families with a seriously-ill child and the efforts of those who choose to run for the Trust are absolutely vital in raising the funds to make this possible.

Whether you are a first time half marathon runner or a seasoned event competitor completing a run for the Trust can be extremely rewarding. The Trust provides tips on raising sponsorship and running shirts for all its runners.

London Marathon 2012 - Olympic year

We are lucky enough to have been given one place for this year's event on Sunday 22nd April and we are looking for a runner willing to take on the challenge and maximise its fundraising potential.

For small charities places in this event are like gold dust and, in order to raise as much money as possible to help the children and families we support, we are hoping to find someone willing to commit, not only to all the training involved, but to raising in excess of £5,000.  If you would like to take part in this event in this exciting Olympic year please contact Sue Guild or Lesley Macdonald at the Trust on 01344 622500.

Here are just some of the experiences of our runners:

Seven-year-old Piers Nicholls completed the 1.6 km Mini South Run in Southsea in October 2008. Piers, a pupil at Sebastian’s former school Hall Grove in Bagshot, raised more than £800. He said: “I am so pleased that I was able to raise some money for Sebastian and I really hope his dream comes true.”
Long-term Trust supporter Royston Crandley has completed four half marathons and two full marathons for the Trust including the London and Edinburgh marathons.
Novices and seasoned runners join the Trust team to complete the Windsor Half Marathon each September. This is the Trust’s biggest team event.
gates team
Sebastian’s parents Jane and Mike Gates have now completed several runs for the Trust including the Flora London Marathon in 2007 despite suffering an injury part way round. Jane said: “We completed the marathon in a less than spectacular 5 hours 50 minutes, secure in the belief that our son had willed us home with pride. I felt so humbled to be a part of the occasion and I would have no hesitation in recommending the experience to anyone.”
